Bilingual Buddies was founded in 1998 by Alice Carter White. The program aims to provide a positive first foreign language experience.

As the Hispanic population rises in the U.S., the need for a bilingual society is increasingly prevalent. Census reports indicate that the number of Hispanics in South Carolina alone will increase by more than 60 percent by the year 2015. Business leaders, members of the labor force, and the community in general will continue to see an increase in the Hispanic population in every industry and facet of our daily lives. As many members of the Hispanic community are learning English, many English speakers will also need to learn Spanish in order to blend the two cultures more smoothly. Bilingual Buddies is a part of Spanish Language Creations, a language service providing programs, training and materials for language learning.

Bilingual Buddies is a Spanish enrichment program whose goal is to provide children with a positive first foreign language experience. The basic preschool program is designed for children from ages 3 to 5. Children learn through a variety of hands-on activities, songs, games and puppet interaction. Over 500 children have been enrolled since its inception.
